Hi, I’m Suzi from StartaMomBlog.com I am a mom to two beautiful little girls and the wife to a wonderful man. I studied Industrial Engineering and spent years working for Fortune 100 Companies like General Electric and Walt Disney World optimizing their systems, reducing cost and inventory, and implementing Lean Six Sigma.

After the birth of my first daughter, I became a stay at home mom and picked up blogging. I have grown my blog to a successful online business in less than a year and have loved the journey of being able to work from home while being a mom.

Tell us about your Start A Mom Blog.

I help moms build professional blogs so that they can contribute to the family finances while staying home with their little ones. I also love helping moms with time management tips and techniques.

As a busy WAHM, how do you make sure your marriage, kids, ministry, work and home are in the right order of priority?

Balancing home, and home business can be tricky. What has worked well for you and what has not?

I use the Eisenhower technique when my to-do list is too long. It helps me prioritize my tasks correctly so that I do not neglect the most important and urgent items. I also love using my bullet journal for daily to-dos. I’m embracing minimalism more and more to help me streamline my life and help me focus on the essential. Less mess equals less stress.

Organization and planning are a must in the life of a mom blogger, share with us your productivity secret!

I recently shared all of my time management tips in the video below. It all boils down to is eliminating the things that are not important to you. By having less in your life (events, stuff, and commitments) it allows you to focus and organize the essentials.

When you started your blog, what did not expect to happen?

What surprised you in the blogging sphere?

I was surprised that it could take so much time. Blogging is very time-consuming when you are just starting out – because you have to learn so much. But after 6 months of consistently blogging, it becomes easier and easier. The beginning is hard and I help my readers during that time from transitioning from a new blogger to an advanced blogger.

How often do you post on your blog?

And what do your readers love to get from you?

I post once a week. My readers love my emails that I send out weekly – I always get a great response and a ton of replies.

What has been your most successful way to monetize?

Creating my course has been a huge win. It provides value to new mom bloggers and walks them through creating a professional blog step by step. It’s not just a course, it’s a start of a friendship with me. I know education is changing dramatically. We now have the ability to reach the world from the comfort of our home and help others learn new skills without going to school.

Today’s technology is just amazing. Affiliate marketing has been a great way to monetize as well, but I’m less in control of my affiliate earnings as I am of my own product sales.

Do you have a blog accountability partner or mastermind group you belong to?

If so, tell us a bit about it. How is it helpful to you?

Yes, I have a few close blogging friends in the same niche that help me stay focused. We help build each other up and we bounce ideas off each other. It’s helpful to have a few blogging friends because the journey can get lonely at times. I am also a part of a few smaller Facebook groups of under 50 bloggers where we keep each other motivated and accountable – and share awesome tips too! 🙂

I wouldn’t be able to grow my mom blog without…

Without my espresso machine 😉 or my iPhone. But mostly the support of my hubby – that has been my foundation this whole time!

Tell us about your first big blogging A-HA moment. What was it?

My husband encouraged me to create a course – I just wanted to put a few videos on YouTube. But because of his support and encouragement, I was able to grow my blog to thousands within the first year.

What would you do differently if you were starting again?

I wouldn’t stress so much. Blogging is a journey, a marathon, not a sprint. I wouldn’t get so down on myself for not knowing everything the first month. 🙂

Give us your best 3 blogging tips for those starting a mom blog.

The best three tips I have for beginning bloggers are to:

  1. Test and experiment
  2. Build your email list from day
  3. Be real

People are looking for authentic connections online, if you can be comfortable and allow your personality to shine through, others will connect with you and your following will grow.
