Does Eating Clean Really Make a Big Difference?
Clients often ask me why they should eat clean. The reality is, no matter how clean we eat, we live in a very toxic world. Before we even open our mouths to take a bite of food, we are exposed to vehicular and industrial pollution in the air and toxins in our cleaning products and cosmetics. Not to mention the havoc wreaked on the body by stress. So the question is not ‘am I toxic?’ but rather ‘how toxic am I?’
Not that long ago in historical terms we didn’t have processed foods, mass agriculture, or the levels of pollution we face today. Our bodies cleanse naturally, but they have not evolved fast enough to keep up with the increasing toxic load. When the body’s natural detoxification systems reach their limit, we begin to experience symptoms of over toxicity including:
- Fatigue
- Foods allergies or intolerances
- Skin problems
- Weight gain or inability to gain weight
- IBS, constipation, or irregular bowel movements
- Hampered immunity
- Headaches or other pains
- Hormonal imbalances
- Depression, anxiety, or constant mood swings
- Trouble sleeping
- Low sex drive
- Sugar cravings
If you suffer from any of the above, this is a great time to hit your body’s reset button by eating clean. Even if you aren’t experiencing any symptoms, it is recommended that everyone cleanse seasonally to give the body’s detox organs a break.
By following my clean eating program, you will release the toxins that have found their way into your organs, fatty tissues, and blood.
Regularly Eating Clean allows you to:
- Alkalize the body naturally
- Reduce sugar intake and eliminate cravings
- Improve the function of the detox organs and boost cellular health
Good health rests on the condition of our cells. Healthy cells require the essential components of:
- Oxygen
- Healthy foods containing nutrients and minerals
- Adequate hydration
- Well-functioning detoxification pathways
Simply put, when you are not getting these four building blocks for cell regeneration, you will not feel your best.

Have you ever consider growing your own food without getting your hands dirty?
There is a way and I’ve been doing it for over 3 years!
It is called Tower Garden!
Clean eating is the way to go. These days I am trying to incorporate fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs into my diet and let go of unhealthy processed food. I also hope by doing that I set an example for my children to follow suit.
Eating clean is definitely a concern of mine, but unfortunately, we are still absorbing toxins no matter how well we eat. 🙁
I recently joined a movement of moms who are educating people about the negative effects of consuming processed foods, sharing an easy way to get non-GMO, organic food into their kids, and discussing how we can rid our bodies of the toxic chemical Glyphosate (RoundUp) that’s sprayed on 75% of the crops we feed our family!
Yes, but we still can do something about how much you are absorbing. 🙂
I agree we should do all we can to eat non-GMO & organic, but glyphosate is still sprayed on crops, on park greens and it’s in our air & water. Unless you eat only organic items when out, you are ingesting it in fast food & restaurant meals. It’s been found in breast milk AND formula, and in extremely high amounts in a food many moms feed their children – Cheerios – let alone many other cereals and snacks! :-O You can read more here: https://www.ewg.org/release/toxic-weed-killer-found-breast-milk-infant-formula#.W2MP3yhKiUk).
It’s also a concern for pregnant women – https://sustainablepulse.com/2017/04/05/high-glyphosate-levels-in-mothers-leads-to-shorter-pregnancies-and-smaller-babies-new-ongoing-study/#.W2MPqShKiUk. A quote from that article states, “In 2016 Sustainable Pulse reported that glyphosate had been found in the urine of *93% of the American public* during a unique testing project that started in 2015 at the University of California San Francisco”!
So, to be truly safe, we need to add the step of actually REMOVING glyphosate from the gut to repair the microbiome. 🙂
Loved this article and I am definitely going to look into the tower garden more. I heard of similar items in the past. I like to hear about how you have been growing with it and it works. Have you ever seen the articles about growing potatoes in a trashcan? then when it’s time to harvest, you just dump it over and get all the potatoes out! Thanks! I am going to bookmark your site.
Wendy, I love my tower Gardens!! I never heard of growing potatoes in a garbage can, that’s pretty cool!!
I love growing our own food, it’s much healthier and save us a lot of money. 😉
It’s certainly difficult to eat clean because of all that we are exposed to. Thanks for the article and for sharing about the tower garden. I had never heard of it, and it seems to be something worth taking a look at. Thanks!
First time to your blog. This is a good post. Nice reminder, to me, to keep it up with clean, healthy eating. I need those reminders every so often.
Thanks!
You’re welcome, Clara!

Hey Ana! Neat bog you have here. Small but realistic article on health and diet.
Obrigada Larissa! 🙂
Yes! I make it my goal to eat clean the majority of the time. Definitely not perfect at all, but we shoot for it as often as possible. I find that when I plan ahead and make a meal plan, we are most successful! It’s when I’m too busy and don’t have a plan that I turn to some of the not-so-great food options.
That’s so right!!! I’m so glad you came by Esther!! I just signed up for your challenge. Do check out my other website http://www.liveleanlovelife.ca and my other Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/liveleanlovelifewithAnaWillis/
