Cast Your Cares on the Lord and He will Sustain You

Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken (Psalm 55:22), I read this morning in my Bible with my heart squeezing in anxiety as we’ve been praying day in and out for a situation we’ve been going through.

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22 Bible journaling | Devotional | Prayer | Illustrated Faith | Encouragement

I’m so glad I am committed to giving God the first moments of my day and to have opened my Bible this morning in this Psalm! It has been hard on me lately going through so many things we have no control over. I needed this word to sustain me today.

When it feels so hard to cast your cares on Him…

“Lord, I can’t carry this burden on my shoulders anymore?” I said in prayer, more like crying out in agony. I’m casting it all on You, please take it! My heart is heavy today and I need you. I know I can trust You with my problems because You care for me.

“I’m casting it all on You, please take it! My heart is heavy today and I need you. I know I can trust You with my problems because You care for me.”

Worry and anxiety have been wearing me down these days under so much uncertainty. I can’t tell you exactly what we are going through if you are part of our Bible journaling club you would know.

But I know, God is still in control and my life is in His hands! He is the same God who saved me when I was dying of cancer 16 years ago, who gave me 3 gorgeous children when the doctors told me I couldn’t have any, He provided for us in miraculous ways over and over again as we faithfully serve Him in every country He has sent us to.

God hasn’t changed! He is still the same! I know I can cast my cares on Him!

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

As I kept meditating on those words, reassurance began to grow in my heart. I looked back to all He has done for us and there is no way that He will not do it this time again!

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

Why I know you too can cast your cares on God…

His Word is true. He is not a man that He should lie (Num. 23:19). He loves you and He cares for you!

“Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7″

Peter tells us that we can cast ALL our anxiety on God, not just the extra, not just a part of it, but all. And he explains why: He cares!

God is a good father. He cares, He protects, He provides, He sustains and He even bears our burdens daily!

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah. Psalm 68:19

He has not and will not ever abandon you. Your problem is not too big for a God that is all powerful! El Shaddai is He. In Hebrew El Shaddai literally means God that is enough, sufficient… and is He not? YES, He is!

He is more than enough to meet ALL my and your needs. When you need healing He is your healer, when you need provision He is your provider, when you need deliverance He is your deliverer. He is your savior, your redeemer, your Abba Father. What a mighty God!

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalm 55:22

How you too can cast your cares on the Lord…

1 – Call on Him.

As for me, I shall call upon God, And the LORD will save me. Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice. Psalm 55:16-17

He will always hear your prayers! His ears are inclined to hear the cry of His beloved children.

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

Not only He wants to answer your prayers but also He wants to reveal to you great and hidden things you do not know!

2 – Trust Him.

Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it. Psalm 37:5

Friend, we can trust a God that doesn’t change. He remains the same and the miracles He performed in the past in our lives just show us that He can and will do it again. He is faithful!

“God, who is enthroned from of old, who does not change.” Psalm 55:19

3 – Give it to Him.

Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

Many see this verse as an invitation. I see it as a commandment. Jesus calls us to come to Him! He wants to take this heavy yoke from our shoulders, He wants us to trust Him with our load and He wants to take it from us.

4 – Rest in Him.

Instead of continuing to carry this burden alone, He wants us to let it go! When we let it go, He gives us His rest. A full rest. A real rest for our souls.

Truly MY SOUL FINDS REST IN GOD; MY SALVATION COMES FROM HIM.
TRULY HE IS MY ROCK AND MY SALVATION; HE IS MY FORTRESS, I WILL NOT BE SHAKEN.
How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence?
Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.
YES, MY SOUL, FIND REST IN GOD; MY HOPE COMES FROM HIM.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God ; HE IS MY MIGHTY ROCK, MY REFUGE.
Psalm 62:1-7

Are you ready to cast your cares on Him? Let’s pray.

I’ve given Him my load today and I’m not taking it back. Will you join me and give yours to Him as well?

Father, I pray for my sister reading this now that she will trust You to care for her problems because I know You care for her!

Abba, thank you that she can call on You knowing that her prayers will never be in vain but that you hear her cry and will answer her in Your perfect timing.

Thank you that you love her with an everlasting love! Thank you that You are El Shaddai, the God that is more than enough, all sufficient in our lives!

Jesus, as she prays this prayer, take her load and replace it with your peace that surpasses all understanding in Your name I pray!

Amen.

      Yes!! We all do, Leah!
We spend so much time worrying and being anxious as if we could really solve every problem on our own, but we can’t!
With this particular situation we’ve been going through now, I couldn’t even sleep well. It took me one day just casting my cares on the Lord, praying, praising, journaling His Word and all the anxiety, fears and worries were gone!!
Not only that, but the next day we had good news after good news because truly, God was the one in charge then and He was doing His thing without us standing on His way. 😉
      He is good!

Thank you for sharing your heart and these verses. I’ve been in a new job this year that has taken me to a place of feeling continually discouraged and crying out to God daily why He has placed me here. I know He always has a plan bigger than we can see or know, but I’ve become ridden with my own anxieties and distant from God lately. I’m teetering at the edge of breaking down when I came across your blog today that gave me the exact reminder I needed to hear before our big meeting tomorrow. No matter what happens, I am in the care of the Lord and He has my steps planned before me. Thank you!

Yes!!! This topic has come up several times with me in the last few weeks! If we would only go to Him first and give it all to Him first, before the worry and anxiety hit us!!! We would be so much better off! Sometimes I know I should give to Him & just won’t! A few weeks ago I had a minor little crisis & I said “God I’m not going to worry about this, you are in control, you can handle all things! I’m not even going to worry about it!” He worked every little detail out perfectly!!! I’ll pray for you! I’m also going to send this to a friend who really needs this right now! They were blindsided with life and don’t know what to do. Thanks for this post!

Ana has a beautiful heart and her laugh is contagious these are the extra perks of being apart of her blog family. What... drew me to her blog was to get homeschooling info and ideas, what has held me there is her evident passion and love for Christ. Through her blog I've grown an interest in bible journaling because of the artist side of journaling I have seen her demonstrate. Thank you for all your hard work to provide great resources for homeschooling and much more, and for the prayers!!! The praysers are an added blessing! read more
