Are you wondering what is the most efficient way to set up a Charlotte Mason daily schedule? Understanding the importance of having your days planned to be productive is key!

Having a daily schedule isn’t as hard as it sounds and it’s actually something you’ll eventually look forward to planning. And if you think I’m crazy, trust me… I’m not. We’ve been homeschooling for years and I love the fact that we have our own Charlotte Mason homeschool schedule planned out each and every day.

While I used to think that having a daily schedule wasn’t necessary, now we can’t seriously function without one! (but we do leave time to have “free” time as well!)

How to Set Up Your Charlotte Mason Daily Schedule

The Importance of Setting up a Charlotte Mason Daily Schedule

Setting up a daily schedule can really help the flow of your homeschool day.

What does it look like?

This is a great question, and honestly, everyone is going to be a little bit or a lot different. Truth be told there isn’t one perfect way to set up your schedule. You’ll have to factor in how your family functions, what your interests are and what works best to determine the best approach. The best daily homeschool schedule is the one that works for you!

Just make certain that you’re creating an awesome morning schedule, filtering in time for nature, and creating an atmosphere that shows your child that they have the ability to learn and do all sorts of amazing things.

How do you create a schedule?

Again, this can vary.

Some homeschools start at 6 AM, while others begin their day at 9 AM or 10 AM like us! You have to do what works best for your family. My best advice is: follow your family’s natural rhythm. As long as you’re getting in everything that you need during the day, you can schedule your time accordingly.

The biggest thing to remember is that you need to create a strong start and end to the day. This gives the children a starting and endpoint that they can look forward to doing. And it removes the ever-annoying question: “What’s next?” for being asked 20 times in a day!

Once you have those two items set, you can filter in all the other lessons and subjects that you’re wanting to work on.

What are the benefits of setting up a Charlotte Mason daily homeschool schedule?

One of the biggest benefits is that it helps everyone be prepared. A lot of times the frustrations and worried emotions that come from homeschooling are just due to the lack of planning.

Imagine waking up every day and already having the entire daily activities planned out and ready to go? Wouldn’t that alleviate a lot of stress and worries? Yes, it would. You have a plan to follow and that makes a world of difference, doesn’t it?

Another benefit is that it allows you to plan ahead and set up some really cool field trips or outdoor excursions. While learning on the fly is fun, planning ahead gives you the time to contact educational places or outdoor places in town to set up fun outings.

Why should you set up a daily homeschool schedule?

Time and time again, they have proven to be much more efficient for everyone involved. Instead of waking up and scrambling to find things to fill your day, you can instead start in on your curriculum and learning easily and as planned.

The other great reason is that it gives your children the knowledge of what to expect. This can help them become excited, feel less stressed and learn how to also plan and schedule in other avenues of their life. Planning and following a daily schedule shows your children that planning ahead is a great way to be the most productive that they can be.

When it comes time to create your schedule, you can easily plan out your days. You just need to figure out how you want to start your day, end your day and block out the other times accordingly. And don’t forget to include your kids in on the fun!

Having their input on what they’d like to learn and do can be a great way to collaborate together and figure out a solid plan. There might be certain subjects or things that they want to learn that once they tell you, you can easily add on. Working together as a family can be a super fun way to create a Charlotte Mason daily homeschool schedule!

My Own Charlotte Mason Daily Homeschool Schedule

Here is our own daily homeschool schedule. As you see, we don’t start our homeschool day early and we don’t spend all day studying either. Do we follow this daily homeschool schedule strictly? Not at all! The routine rhythm, yes, but the time we start or end, even how long we spend in each subject varies each day.
