Looking for Christ-centered Advent activities for kids?
Crisp frosty morning, twinkling lights, and warm mugs of cocoa. All enjoyed while wrapped up in cozy blankets reading God’s Word together. Ah, if only the whole Advent season was as relaxing and fruitful as my favorite moments of the season!
Realistically there is more hurrying, frantic-last minute Walmart runs and burning the pies than I would care to admit. It’s so easy to get swept away in the holiday hustle and bustle that clings to the Christmas season when we are supposed to be focusing on the greatest story ever told. God sent His Son as a baby into our broken world to redeem and restore the sinful mess we have created.
How miraculous! How magnificent! How can we ever let the happenings of this World steal the marvel that is found in the retelling of this story?
My name is Tiffany Andrews, and I am the creator of Outmatchedmama.com. When you don’t find me writing about following Jesus in spite of my abundant weakness, you can find me encouraging other moms to keep homeschooling even when they are overwhelmed and outmatched by life! (If you are a homeschool mama, check out my brand new Getting to the Heart of your Homeschool series to refresh the heart of your homeschool!)
I love Christmas time so much that my husband starts sending me messages saying, “IT’S CHRISTMAS!” every time the leaves start turning red in September. 😉 (Anyone with me!?)
But with all the fun activities that come this time of year, it’s easy to fill our schedules with the good stuff and lose sight of why we are celebrating in the first place!
[Tweet “Let’s slow down this Christmas season, and intentionally focus on the important things.”]
One thing of eternal significance that the time surrounding the holidays is perfect for is impressing Biblical truths into the hearts of our children. Celebrating Advent, or anticipating the coming birth of the Messiah through family activities that are infused with scripture, is one way to intentionally focus on Jesus during this busy season.
With a little bit of planning and preparation, we can spend the month of December creating fantastic family memories together. All of this being accomplished while pouring God’s Word and His truth into the tiny hearts we have been gifted with teaching and training.
If you would like more Jesus and less anything else that the world screams we NEED during this over-consumerized time of the year, read about our family’s favorite, tested and tried Christ-centered Advent activities. Join me in intentionally keeping your heart, your home, and even your homeschool (toddlers included!) Christ-centered during Advent this year!
